Wahoo! Have you heard the good news?
On Thursday, the Florida Senate affirmed the right of green thumbs statewide to grow vegetable gardens in their front yards.
This is music to the ears of the many WiseTribers who have been the founding force of the #GetDirtyInDelray movement, an effort to inspire more people in Delray to enjoy access to fresh, healthy, and locally grown produce.
We salute Republican Senator Rob Bradley for sponsoring the SB 82 bill and we are delighted to see that State legislatures are concerned with empowering citizens towards greater personal health.
As Senator Bradly put it “The world is changing when it comes to food. There’s a big interest when it comes to locally sourced food or organic products. It is our role, our duty to review decisions that are made in the courts that uphold local government actions that violate property rights in the State of Florida … When you own a piece of property, you should be able to grow food on that property for your family’s consumption.”
We are excited for what this means to building greater health and wellbeing in local community within Florida and we’re looking forward to GROWING TOGETHER!
