Without question, it is time we rethink and reimagine the governing framework of a globalized world. We salute 88 year old Laszlo Szombatfalvy, the Warren Buffett of Sweden, for funding $5m USD “in prizes for the best ideas that re-envision global governance for the 21st century.”
To young people Szombatfalvy offers 4 solid points of advice:
- Be conscious of the fact that you are not only your own country’s citizen; you are a global citizen.
- Realize that your children’s and grandchildren’s living conditions to a growing extent will depend on other countries’ citizens, even more than on their compatriots.
- Understand, that without a global governance system that can tackle global risks, the likelihood of major catastrophes will become incomparably higher.
- Demand action from your elected politicians! Vote out the incompetent people – you cannot afford them!
We agree with Szombatfalvy. We’re not putting the toothpaste back into the tube, folks, and it is time for new minds, new voices and new ways. Let’s make sure they’re #wiseways.
